Description

Métis people have been known as the "flower beadwork people"Michif is the language of the Red River Métis people. It's also the word some Métis people use to self-identify in replace of Métis because the name Métis was given to us by the French, which means "Mixed". The Métis Nation within Alberta has four official languages. English, Michif, Cree and French. English is our primary language.

Métis people have diverse worldviews, but one thing we all agree on is... Please pass the bannock and don't forget the butter and jam! This Métis Proud piece of art is a reminder to be proud of the Michif or Métis heritage in all its beautiful diversity.

Designed by Métis artist Angie Saltman.

We operate on the traditional territory of Treaty 8 in what is now known as Grande Prairie. We value the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit who lived and cared for this land long before Canada was founded, and we recognize that it is a privilege to operate our business here.

Our Prince George site operates on the traditional territory of the Lheidli T’enneh.

We are grateful to the Elders and Knowledge Keepers who are with us today, and those who’ve gone before us.
